I like Catcher in the Rye so far. I like the way Salinger wrote the book because it is interesting to read. Although it can be confusing sometimes, you really get to see exactly what Holden is thinking. Holden is an interesting character. He acts tough, like he knows everything, but he's really just as confused as everyone else.

I think the movie is beneficial. It helped me picture what Morrie and Mitch looked like and how they acted. Although some things were wrong, it was very similar to the book. The news interview in the movie was very similar to the actual one and Morrie and Mitch have the same personalities.
I also think that watching the movie during/before reading the book might get a little confusing. Some of the details are different. In the book Mitch is married and in the movie he is engaged. Besides the differences I think it can be helpful in understanding the book and characters better.

I think that Morrie is a very brave person. He doesn't feel sorry for himself and doesn't want others to either. If I were in his situation I don't think I could handle it like him. He knows that this disease is going to take everything from him until there's nothing left. And yet, despite everything he is going through, he isn't bitter and he doesn't blame anyone.
I think the advise he gave can be used by anyone, not just people suffering from an illness. If people would take that advise maybe they could have a better life and not so many regrets. Morrie has taken his illness and turned it into a learning opportunity and now he's sharing what he has learned with everyone.
